No saquen las flores

This is the title of my last photozine, published by Bad Weather. They where taken on México between October and November in different towns (but specially in Oaxaca).

Soon we are going to leave them in different places, for example, this Friday at the new Fatbottom Books shop, douring the fantastic party they are organizing with their neighbors: Dead Moon Records.

Obsessionistas / number 25

A few years ago, the blog/web Obsessionistas specialized in interviewing collectors, did me a short interview about my collection, a sieve of photozines, artzines, comics, rare stuff, political fanzines and other stuff I can't remember now. Here I make a backup.

The collector: Pere Saguer, Graphic Designer, Girona and Barcelona, Spain.
The collection: Zines and Fanzines.
The story behind the collection...
My fanzine collection began when I started exchanging comics with my school mates.  I never imagined that I would have this collection.  I just kept them because I had exchanged them with my friends.  Then when I moved to Barcelona to study I discovered more about fanzines and the DIY movement.
I've been collecting fanzines since 2005, and today I have more than 800 zines (and other kinds of small limited editions). My collection is not only fanzines. Sometimes it's difficult to define what is or isn't a fanzine, so I acquire them according to my own personal aesthetic.  The content is split 50-50 between illustration and photozines.  I have to confess that the way I focus my collection is something pending that I'm currently trying to solve.
I still remember the day I got "96844kg" by Jordi Erola (a Catalan artist) in a small shop in Barcelona (now closed).  I'd really like to get hold of an Ed Ruscha zine. I had the opportunity to see some of them in the Archive of the Modern Art Museum of Barcelona (MACBA), of course, my pocket still can't afford it.
I also have a collection of very old key chains but I'm no longer adding to the collection.  Other collections include empty sugar packets, plane and train tickets, a sticker book (mostly focused on street art) and champagne bottlecaps.
Sometimes I discover a fanzine I mark down as interesting and then when I have the money to buy it it's sold out. A recommendation to Obsessionistas: if you see something interesting, buy it!
I recommend all to take a collection in his life, collecting is a way to preserve our history.

Internet paleontology

Next week, there is going to be a second edition "remasterized" of Christopher discovered amercia by mistake, a net-art graphic zine with some internet fossils (like a internet paleontologist) and again, published by Bad Weather Press.

The first edition was sold out in a couple of weeks in GRAF fair (the Barcelona edition) and Gutter Fest, and although we are very reluctant to make second editions, in this case, we will make an exception.

Thanks Google

Looking about noise music I saw my profile +Google picture, I didn't understand why till I saw that The Ratzinger Times mention us because of the noise+zine: Food Chain. It was a two-way work, with Leonardo Amico on the sound and me on the graphics. All published on Bad Weather press.

Here I copied the photographs, to see the similarities:

The picture of the girl (aka Dominadora de Combos) is from another entry in the same web about Sensxperiment: Between Lucena and Montilla, with very nice photographs.

Manhattan

A few weeks ago, I published a new photozine on Bad Weather press. They were on our desk in the Gutter fest and they are going to be on Tenderete 6 (14 and 15 June) in València. If you can't go, you have the online version, only 50 copies!

Lands Speak Record / online

Very happy! Now you can buy "Lands Speak Record" (with the "California" mini photozine) on La Central web (and La Central del MACBA, Barcelona + La Central del Museo Reina Soifía, Madrid shops, too!). Clic Here.

GRAF 2013

As posted on Bad Weather Press, I'm going to be on this first year of GRAF in Espacio MUTUO, Barcelona. Saturday 13, so writte down you have to be there, from 11 morning to 11 night!

6x4'' exhibition: Artist Postcards

So, I'm in this postcard exhibition!

6x4” is an exhibition that will explore the postcard as a distinctive artistic medium in its own right. Artist-designed postcards are small, intimate, unique pieces to be either distributed or collected by individuals.
Artists’ postcards, however, are not only about creating images on  a blank canvas. It is also about the artists’ interaction with existing postcards, manipulating imagery by collaging found materials, drawing, painting or cutting into the surface. The exhibition, 6x4”, provides an opportunity to explore the potential of the this form through artist-designed or artist-manipulated postcards.
Images can employ any technique and can be drawn, typographic, photographic, printed onto, or manipulated. They can be landscape or portrait, address any subject matter from conceptual to humorous and can be singular or part of a series. The only restriction is the image must fit within postcard dimensions.
The exhibition is just about exploring and enjoying the format and having a bit of fun with it.
Questions can be submitted on http://artistspostcards.tumblr.com/ or can be emailed to 6x4postcards@gmail.com.

Collage / lletfresca.tumblr.com

I still work with the theme of collage (after the "Collage age" zine and "Christopher..."), this time for a specific order, and doing them digital. BUT, I still prefer the cut and sizing of a lifetime, I event not sure if I should call this "collage"...

Christopher discovered america by mistake

Now uploads at booklet library from Japan!

This latest publication is material I have been collecting and selecting from internet and then, made compositions more or less around "Tropicalismo", always giving priority to what I like.

The fanzine, of course, has published "Bad Weather Press" and you can get it by Paypal on their website, or Barcelona (Fatbottom books) and Madrid (Sandwich Mixto)

Zine scans are from Booklet.

California photozine

Last week "California" photozine was published! Horray. We also decided that because is a small sized zine, to only sell them with my other photozines (for example: Lands speak record). But of course, sending a mail to Bad Weather Press, you can get California with any other zine avaiable.

And remember that, if you are (or travel) to Barcelona, you can get the zine (and others) on Fatbottom Books Shop!
